Unit 12: Its a Wrap

When looking at what are the things that I found helpful from this course I would say the content.  The content was amazing.  When I first saw this class a 18 months ago and that it was a class I needed to take, I did not imagine this would be it.  For some reason, I literally thought that it would be a class on writing technology grants applications.  I am glad that was not the case!!!  I think that the content we went through was very good and it is important for school leaders to understand the importance of technology and its applications in education that will be here for the long haul.

I wouldn't say I have any suggestions for the course as I thought it went really well.  I will say I wish we would have been able to be together in a classroom and have discussion as that is what is really enjoyable and I feel that getting information from peers in those situations is amazing.  The other thing that made this course difficult for me is the COVID stuff going on at my school district.  I have been very appreciative of your willingness to have soft deadlines as this year has been hectic!!

Unit 1: Introductions & Role of Technology

For this unit, we had to watch three videos and talk about what we learned from them. When watching the video "What is the Value of a Teacher", I learned quite a few things. When he starts talking about how to use google properly, I did not know anything about what he was saying. In addition, I agree that teachers need to change the assignments to meet the standards of today and the use of the internet compared to the same assignments that teachers have given before the internet started. I also thought the use of the prism website was a cool idea to show classmates that the majority of them think the same thing and it is not too scary to talk during the class. Finally, I thought the idea of connecting globally was a pretty cool idea. The teacher in Moose Jaw having the children in Vietnam teach her children how to build a video camera is a great idea. Unit 8: One-to-One Initiatives

When looking at one-to-one initiatives, there are many things that come to my mind.  First and foremost, the Eureka School District has been a one-to-one school for more than a decade and I could not picture us going back.  In fact, I look at a school like Herreid where my parents taught for over 30 years and they are not one-to-one.  This actually surprises me, and makes me feel very thankful for being in a district that understands the importance of technology in our instruction.  There are many benefits of being a one-to-one school.  One of them is that the students have the computer at their fingertips at any point work on anything they need to.  Another would be that it could be a selling point for a family to choose a district that is one-to-one compared to a district that is not.  However, my thoughts are that the most important benefit of being a one-to-one school is the ability to prepare our students for life after school.  With everythi...
